You can use this script template for your first book trailer in PowerPoint. In the right column, write the sentences that will appear on your slides. In the left column, write a two word description of picture you will look for to illustrate the slide.
Each story has an introduction, rising action, climax, falling action, and then resolution. Every story always has conflict. You may describe the introduction, rising action, and conflict, but stop there.
STEP-BY-STEP
- Pick a book
- Download the template, Name it with your book title.
- Make a new folder called "Book Title Trailer", save it to your "My Documents" folder
- Save the renamed template to this folder.
- Write the script. Put one sentence in each right side column. This sentence will appear on top of a photo or image (or it could be on its own slide between pictures.)
- While writing the trailer, think of pictures that would best describe the paragraphs and create interest..
- Have someone else review your writing for clarity and proper grammar.
- Make it short (1-2 minutes).
- Introduce main character(s) and setting.
- Focus on the main character’s problem or goal.
- Introduce the antagonist or obstacle to this goal.
- Create a series of scenes that quickly show the story without telling too much.
- End with a “cliffhanger.”
- Do NOT give away the ending.
- Do NOT summarize the story.
- Look at lots of examples to get an idea of what makes a good script.
